Frequently Asked Questions
How does a senior know they are on track to graduate? Counselors meet individually with their seniors to do a Senior Conference. At this time, counselors evaluate transcripts to make sure that graduation requirements are met. Missing credits may need to be taken through correspondence or night school.
Is the senior year too late to evaluate a transcript with a student? Counselors also meet with all 11th graders the end of the junior year to complete a credit check. This is done in the Spring so students can register for missing classes prior to their senior year.
Is it possible for a student to graduate early? Yes. Some of our students decide that they are ready to graduate in the middle of their senior year or even a year early. They must meet with their counselor to make a plan. Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting so they have a clear picture of what is expected. Students must write a letter to the principal requesting permission to graduate early. The school board must grant the request.
How do parents keep informed of their students credits and grades? Power school parent provides immediate access to student grades and attendance. Report cards are mailed home at the end of the school year.
Why is it so important for students to get their registration forms in on time? It is really impossible to plan for the coming year without the proper data. Class openings are based on student selection of electives. Also, certain classes are required for graduation. We do our best to ensure that the final schedule is a direct reflection of student choices.
