Main Orchestra

The Centennial Orchestra is a growing ensemble of students from 9th through 12th grade.  Students need to have at least three years of playing experience to enroll.  As this is the only large orchestra currently at Centennial, all players benefit from having a wide variety of playing levels.

A wide range of literature is explored, from movie themes and pops to classical and contemporary.  All students take part in smaller ensembles and perform in community events, music festivals and fund raising activities for the program.  This orchestra performs at least four concerts outside of class time each year.  The emphasis is on performance skills, but music theory and history are introduced as well.

Chamber Orchestra

The chamber orchestra is an advanced group of string players playing major repertoire.  Acceptance to this orchestra is done by auditions held each spring, and is open to all Meridian district students, including charter and home school.   Acceptance of charter and home school students requires dual enrollment, and you will need to provide your own transportation.

This orchestra is intended for students who are serious about playing in orchestras and are looking for a challenge.  Every effort is made to give these players a well-rounded playing experience in several playing situations.  Many students have graduated from this orchestra and gone on to pursue music degrees at colleges and universities across the nation.
