Marcia von Huene has a long background of musical training with excellent teachers including Rosemary Malocsay (Interlochen Arts Academy), Patricia Aiken (Eastman School of Music), Raphiel Fliegel (Rice University) and Ronald Copes (Julliard String Quartet). She earned her Bachelors degree in Music Education from Olivet College, Michigan, and a Masters in Violin/Viola Performance from UC Santa Barbara. She is an accredited Suzuki instructor, earning her accreditation from John Kendall. Marcia has played under many fine conductors including Yehudi Menuhin, Leonard Bernstein, Varujan Kojian, and Herbert Blumstedt. She played in the Santa Barbara Symphony for 15 years, and is in her 14th year with the Boise Philharmonic orchestra. She has had the honor to play in backup orchestras for several fine musicians including Smokey Robinson, Izak Pearlman and Lucia Pavarotti. In addition to public teaching, Marcia teaches private students and plays in a professional string quartet. Her greatest challenge is to impart her joy of orchestral and chamber playing to her students. Marcia lives in Meridian with her husband Marc of 26 years, two sons Jason and Conner (both string players), two dogs and two cats.
