Let us break down the word geothermal. "Geo" means earth like geology which is study of the earth. "Thermal" meaning heat. Combined it means earths heat. Geothermal energy uses the energy naturally created from the earth. We use the heated water to provide our energy. One contry in particular uses mainly thermal energy to heat its homes. Iceland is on very active ground thus allowing thermal energy to be a sustainable form of energy. Thermal could potentionally end our reliance of middle eastern energy. The main problem with this is that the energy is hard to gather.
