You will be in groups of two "couples" so that you will have as many opportunities as possible to learn from each other and consult someone else on your plans. You have each been given a different budget to work with, so keep in mind that not everything will be the same for both of you. You may use whatever resources are available to you, but most of your work should come from the internet. Keep all of your information in one place so that it is easy to access when it comes time to write your paper and do your presentation for the class.
You will need to consider supplies, mommy clothes, baby clothes, what kind of diapers (disposable or cloth), what order should you buy things, what information will you need to know and understand before and after having a baby. First create your budget so you know what kind of money you have to put into buying new things and research prices of things so you know where to get the best deals. Look at daycare if it is an option and remember to put money away for that if you need to. There are a lot of doctors and hospital visits involved, make sure you know what the new baby will need (for example shots) and what the new mommy will need. Choose a doctor and a hospital, and keep it real. Research these things in your own area so you can account for different economies.
It will be your responsibility to cover all of these types of things for your social class when you present this information to the class. Make sure you are prepared to the fullest extent for questions and whatever else may come up.
